Installation and servicing: domestic gas hobs, ovens, fires, boilers

New cooker, hob or fire?... Cut out the middle man!

Rather than pay a middle man (a big and faceless ‘superstore’ style company) that add a ‘mark up’ to supply your cooker, hob or fire, why not find your own on the web (it really is much cheaper!) and then give me a call to fit it! Below are some links to relevant sites where I think you’ll find the prices are much better than high street retailers!

Please be warned that there are the hidden sides to fitting gas appliances that the High Street retailers are not interested in and don’t know/care about. These are simply the requirements of the Gas Safety Installation and Use Regulations (GSIUR), and the plethora of relevant British Standards. In the case of hobs and cookers there are many different clearances that must be adhered to, e.g. height above the hob to the extractor/wall furniture, clearance to the back wall, room volume, is there an openable door?, ventilation… the list is endless, and for fires there’s even more. These are the bits they never tell you until you’ve bought it and it’s too late. It’s never a major problem, but it may occasionally mean slight alterations to your kitchen furniture. I am well experienced in this field.

The exact fitting requirements of any gas appliances are ALWAYS in the Manufacturers Instructions, and so if you can get your hands on a copy (or online) before you buy you can ‘size up’ what may need to be done.
